Over the decades, 2 West Michigan Avenue has lived many lives since its auto-industry beginnings:

In August 2022, 2 West found new ownership. Prior to purchasing the building, the new owner spent years listening to musicians, artists, community members, and local business owners.

Following the purchase, the next three years focused on securing funding, assembling qualified teams, and developing a comprehensive renovation plan. Key Grant achievements included:

2025: Efforts Moved from Planning to Implementation

Hazardous materials were safely removed, and interior demolition revealed the building's original brick, concrete, steel, and glass - structural elements that were hidden for decades.

2026 and beyond

2 West envisions preserving this historic Ypsilanti landmark while curating a vibrant ecosystem for the music and arts, B2B trail and water recreational activities, featuring:

Renovations will continue through 2025 and into 2026. Leasing discussions are now open for arts and music organizations to breathe life into 2 West's vision.
